Cryptography
Encryption is the lock on your data. We check whether that lock fits what you want to protect, and explain it without jargon.
What we help with
- Encryption: encrypting data and managing the keys properly.
- Homomorphic encryption: computing on data without decrypting it.
- PKI: the basis for digital certificates and trust between parties.
- Privacy-enhancing technology: working together on data without revealing more than necessary.
How we work
We discuss who keeps the key and who may use it. Then we propose a first step.
About this service
How do you compare medical treatments for research without revealing the identity of patients? Cryptography makes it possible. For the Personal Health Train we designed the cryptography ourselves: homomorphic encryption, without the need for a trusted third party (TTP).
Cryptography is more than encrypting. Encryption is also about managing the keys: who keeps them, who may use them and what happens when someone leaves. PKI arranges digital certificates and trust between parties. With homomorphic encryption a party can compute on data without decrypting it, and without involving a trusted third party. Privacy-enhancing technology lets parties work together on data without revealing more than necessary.
We first discuss what you want to protect and from whom. Then we look at which technique fits and explain it in plain language.
